“In the industry, we generally call these managed accounts. They’re not inherently robo advisors because what they’re doing is they’re actually bringing personalization, personalized investment solutions along with the planning aspects,” Ceder says. “On the flip side, if they’re off track, if they’re behind, maybe we need a more personalized solution to help get them to be on track and it becomes more of that solution.”

“AI is a little bit of a different animal because the question in my mind around AI and whether we can provide financial advice in a 401(k) plan with the regulations that we have to live with is harder,” Ceder explains. “But certainly how we can help people navigate questions, how we can help them understand what their options are … I’m sure it’s already in the process today.”
